Our Mission
The Mission of The Morgan Hill Community Garden is to bring the community of Morgan Hill together to reap the benefits of growing food in an a social setting, while providing education on gardening, environmental sustainability, health and nutrition and human welfare.
The garden is here to serve gardeners of every age and every experience level. This is a great opportunity to meet with other members of the community, while promoting environmental stewardship.
Our Beginnings
The community garden has many beginnings as many people over the years have made efforts to start a garden.
In July 2009, three friends gathered to start a garden. Working on their strengths; setting up a not for profit corporation, building a website, creating a fundraising event and small time marketing throughout the community.
Our Vision
The current members have many ideas for what they would hope the community garden might one day be. We are anxious to speak with other members of the community to hear what other people may hope for the garden.
Our ideas for the future:
- Providing garden plots for Morgan Hill residents to grow produce for a healthy diet
- Growing produce for donation for local food banks
- Maintaining plots for youth education
- Organizing volunteer groups to assist community members in need, provide green space maintenance
- Holding workshops to educate community members: gardening, seed sprouting, composting, nutrition, recycling, and understanding "sustainability"
